Sam B. Atallah, MD, FACS, FASCRS, is a Professor of Surgery at UCF – College of Medicine (Orlando, Florida, United States) and is teaching faculty at NSU University and South College. He is Director of Colorectal Surgery at HCA Oviedo Medical Center, and is the Vice Chairman of the Department of Colon & Rectal Surgery at AdventHealth (Orlando). He is best known for developing surgical techniques, most notable of which are transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS), robotic TAMIS, and for pioneering stereotactic navigation for rectal cancer surgery. He performed the first robotic endoluminal operation in a human in the United States, and performed the first robotic da Vinci stereotactic operation. He is the Chair of the New Technology Committee at the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, and the autho and editor of Digital Surgery (Springer Nature).
